How To Become the Rockingest Rockette!
I have often been asked what I look for in a Rockette, and well I thought it might be helpful to share that information with everyone. You can consider this just a little advice from the advisor. The first thing everyone needs to remember is that even though the Rockettes are not considered a sport, we are still a team. As a team we need to work together. Instead of saying to yourself or someone else how bad something is… say to yourself, what can we do to change it? That is what a team does. We work together for the good of EVERYONE! The next thing you need to remember is that being a Rockette is an EXTRAcurricular activity. That means it is a privilege to be a part of our team, not an obligation. When you become a Rockette you are pledging to show up at all practices and events, you are pledging to show up at all practices and events on time, and finally you are pledging to show up at all practices and events, on time, and willing to give 100%. Learning your routines is a must. You can not just wing it. A good Rockette will learn the routine, but the Rockingest Rockette will practice that routine and know it backwards and forwards. Meaning, they do not need someone to perform it with them in order to remember it. Remember: WE ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS OUR WEAKEST LINK! So practice, practice, practice. Well these are my words of wisdom on how to become the Rockingest Rockette. Check back later, and maybe I will post my “Am I the Rockingest Rockette quiz”. A quiz you can take for yourself anytime to find out how you rate as a Rockette. Should be fun…. I am excited…. How about you?????
2007 Was A Year of Change!
In 2007 the Rockettes made many changes. From new pom poms, to new uniforms, and new routines. The thing that was the most noticable about it was the new attitudes that each of the Rockettes had. It was called a sence of pride. Pride in how they looked, and pride in how they performed, but mostly pride in how others viewed them. They recieved many compliments from the community as well as fellow classmates. They performed routines with a great bit of difficulty, and they performed them well. It took many long hours of practice, and a lot of hard work, but I am sure if that most of the girls would tell you that it was all worth it. Remember I said most.. not all..
